Computer Technology in Plasma TVs: Seagate and LG Electronics

LG 50PY2DR plasma TV

Plasma televisions today, both large and small, have increasingly been incorporating features to make them more functional and thus more attractive to potential buyers. A partnership between Seagate Technology and LG Electronics has produced one such plasma TV feature that promises changes in the way plasma screens are used today.

According to a press release, LG Electronics is integrating Seagate’s DB35 Series consumer electronics (CE) hard drives into the LG60PY2DR and 50PY2DR plasma televisions. Much like how hard drives in computers store information, so will these Seagate products enable owners of these LG plasma models to store up to 14 hours of digital high-definition (HD) programming or 62 hours of digital standard-definition programming. These Seagate 160-gigabyte hard disks are characterized by their ability to store large amounts of information, enhance video performance, and operate silently.

Users of these large-screen LG plasma televisions have the option of performing functions like slow motion rewind, slow motion forward, and instant replay. Not bad features at all for capturing and savoring favorite TV moments that you’ve recorded – like maybe an amazing dunk shot, the gyrations of a sexy performer, or adrenaline-pumping martial arts battles.
