LG Electronics adds to its list of achievements the designation of being the largest producer of plasma display panels (PDP) in the whole wide world. According to a news report on www.albawaba.com, the company has commenced operations at its fourth PDP factory, which aims to produce 350,000 panels a month.
The plant uses cutting-edge technology that enables the production of six plasma display panels from a single glass panel. This technology has significant implications on the reduction of the time and cost involved in the production process. LG Electronics is optimistic that this plant and the technology it uses will catapult it to market leadership in both the PDP module and PDP television sectors in 2005 and 2006. In fact, it is the company’s goal to become the leader of the plasma television market by 2007.
How will LG Electronics accomplish that goal? Through research, innovation, and sheer determination. The market for plasma screens is growing by leaps and bounds — demand is increasing while prices are declining. LG Electronics is the market leader in the plasma TV sector in 17 countries but plans to increase that number to 30 countries by the end of 2005. It sure seems like the company has moved a big step towards achieving that goal.
