LG’s Plasma TV Is ‘Cool’

Korean manufacturer LG Electronics received recognition for one of its plasma TV products, the PY2DR, from the information technology website IT World. IT World has designated the PY2DR as a “cool gadget” in its monthly evaluation of products.

The LG PY2DR, which was launched in the Middle East in June 2005, is worthy of the “cool” tag because of its extraordinary features: including the high definition storage capacity of broadcasting, the integrated 160-gigabyte hard disk, and the user-friendly recording feature, where users can record programs and customize the recordings according to their preferences.

Both the 50-inch model and the 60-inch model of the PY2DR plasma TV received awards of their own at electronics trade shows such as CeBit and CES in 2005. The 60-inch model was also designated as a superior product by the magazine “Popular Mechanics.”

According to K.H. Kim, president of LG Electronics’ Middle East and Africa operations, the company is doing its best with its digital display offerings to accommodate consumer preferences. They have observed that consumers prefer products that are simple and well-designed, and that they look at cost as a secondary factor.

The plasma TV market worldwide is expected to grow to around 12 million sets by the year 2007, mainly because of improvements in quality, increase in the volume of offerings, and the decline in product prices. It’s kind of exciting to anticipate all the product offerings to be launched by LG Electronics and other manufacturers.
