Magnavox Plasma TVs Are on the Lower End of the Price Scale

For the type of people who absolutely have to own a plasma TV right now, but do not quite have the funds to afford higher-ticket brands, Magnavox plasma televisions may be the solution. They are very inexpensive compared to many other plasma display panels out in the marketplace, and although the price is agreeable, there is some concern about value for money. After all, you might be getting a cheap plasma TV, but is the quality cheap as well?
Take for instance the Magnavox 42MF130A, a 42-inch plasma TV. Priced between $1,592 and $1,756, this model is way more affordable than a similarly-sized plasma TV from other companies such as Sony or Panasonic. The features are pretty standard: built-in ATSC tuner, 3000:1 contrast ratio, 16:9 aspect ratio, and DVI input. Stereo sound is provided by the accompanying speakers. For the price, this model is not a bad deal, but nothing to rave about, either.
Compare that model with the Magnavox 42MF7000-17. Aspect ratio is still 16:9, but contrast ratio is only 1000:1 – this in an era where 3000:1 is standard and 10,000:1 is becoming more common.
These plasma screens are available at electronics retailers, and it would be a good idea to visit one in order to see firsthand the quality of the pictures they provide. Maybe even to compare them with other models.
