The Future Is Bright for Hitachi’s Plasma TVs

Hitachi Wooo 8000 plasma TV

Japanese powerhouse Hitachi Ltd. is set to introduce the world’s brightest plasma TVs. Called the Wooo 8000 series, models in the range will come with screen sizes of 37, 42, and 55 inches. To be released in August 2005, customers have the option of buying models with integrated digital Hi-Vision tuners and two-tuner hard-disk-equipped sets that make it possible to record two programs at the same time.

According to a report in the Japanese newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun, the display screens of the Wooo 8000 plasma TVs will be able to reach the ultimate brightness of 1,400 candelas — so far the brightest in the world. With increased brightness comes increased picture clarity and a promised heightening of the level of viewing pleasure.

Hitachi is on a roll. Like its competitors, the company aims to increase market share; and to do this it is employing a strategy of rolling back prices while increasing product diversity. With the success of the Hitachi Platara range of plasma TV’s, the company is moving to brighter things (literally) with its Wooo 8000 plasma TV range.
