Toshiba 42WP56E: A Sneak Preview

Toshiba 42WP56E plasma TV

Another plasma TV comes out of yet another Japanese company: the 42WP56E plasma television from Toshiba. This model joins two liquid crystal display (LCD) sets, according to a report in the online edition of the New Straits Times. Costing about US$3,400, the Toshiba plasma display panel enters the market as a mid-priced, more affordable item.

The screen measures 42 inches diagonally, has a 16:9 aspect ratio, and a resolution of 850 x 480. Some other features include the SRS WOW Sound System and the 3 Dimension Y/C (PAL/NTSC) Comb Filter. It’s a high-definition-ready TV. It also uses Toshiba’s Meta Brain technology to adjust any video resolution signals to be in agreement with its native resolution.

And in comparison to other plasma screen models that have only one high definition multimedia interface (HDMI) input, the Toshiba 42PW546E has two HDMI digital audio-visual inputs. According to industry experts, having a digital input is essential to having superb visual quality. And the arrival of digital television broadcasting may make just one HDMI input inadequate.

Maybe techies will understand the need for more than one HDMI input better, but for a lot of people, as long as it looks great, gives excellent video and audio quality at a reasonable price, then it’s a go!
